in the heart of Morbihan<\/em><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

It is majestically implanted in the heart of Morbihan and more precisely in the commune of Ambon. The Saint-Julitte church<\/strong>, since it is the one we are talking about, is definitely worth a visit. Here is what you need to know about this building, classified as a historical monument since 1990.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

History of the church Saint-Julitte<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The full name of this Catholic Church is : Saint-Cyr-et-Sainte-Julitte Church. The history retains that the building that currently houses this place of worship is the result of several construction campaigns. Its genesis goes back to antiquity and its history is spread out over time. It was at the beginning of the XII\u1d49 century that the parish was entrusted to the abbey Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys to establish a priory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we go back a little further in history, we must remember that it is between the end of antiquity and the Romanesque period that the oratory was built on the site of the transept. The church consisted of two quadrangular constructions. It should be noted that despite the many reconstructions that the building has undergone, particularly those of the XVIII\u1d49 century, its western facade has remained as it was originally.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Presentation of the church of St. Julitte<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The building presents itself on the outside with opus spicatum masonry on the pigeonhole of the transept and the southern crosspiece. As for the interior, we can see the nave of five bays entirely covered with framework. This last one presents an opening on its side aisles supported by full arches with simple roll. These arches fall on square piles available in mass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the remarkable effects, we note the Romanesque painted decoration or at least its traces. They are visible on the south side of the transept crossing. As for the Gothic choir, it has a flat chevet and ends with an ogival bay with filling. The opening of this choir gives onto side chapels to the north.
